What is BulldustNBack?
Non-stop fun exploring WA…
The BulldustNBack (BNB) Trial is a not-for-profit, four-day motoring adventure that leads drivers in wacky and wonderful old cars through WA’s outback, raising money for local children’s cancer and youth mental health charities.
For the last five years, we’ve covered some K’s!
The 2024 BNB took us from the start at High Wycome Primary School through Goomalling, Konnongoring and Dalwallinu along goats tracks, gravel roads and lots of fun!
After overnighting at The Wheatland Hotel and The Old Convent in Dalwallinu - where participants were encouraged to dress up with the theme of the Olympics - Friday breakfast was supplied at the Wheatland Hotel (thanks guys). Then we made our way through Perenjori, Karara Range Land Park and lunched at the John Forrest Lookout - the flies of WA joined us too - but a good lunch provided by Jenny’s Kitchen in Dalwallinu saw us all fully replete and ready for the afternoon leg of the trail.
Making our way to back to Dalwallinu for Friday night’s accommodation and dinner, the theme for the night was “Something beginning with P” (make of that as you will), several Phantoms, Popes, Presley’s, Pilots, Policemen, and Pyjama People along with two. Pierre’s (chefs), a Princess, a Pterydactil, a Pharaoh, a Professor, a Party Animal, and some indiscrimate ones!
Saturday breakfast was supplied by the Lions Club of Dalwallinu - a fabulous cooked breakfast - thanks to Kathy and Craig and their wonderful assistants! Our morning took us South to Wongan Hills where we received a very warm welcome with lunch provided by the Rotary Club of Wongan Hills) - Thank You!
On after lunch through the Julimar State Forrest and over to Northam for Saturday night accommodation and dinner. After a long day’s driving we finally made it to Northam where we got into the swing of Oktoberfest.
Sadly, Sunday was our last day and we made our way to the Swan Valley with a fun stop or two along the way and got there in time for lunch at Pasta in the Valley where prizes and awards were the theme of the day!
All in all we covered approx 1,288 kms from Thursday to Sunday and had a ball every minute of the way!
All over for this year - apart from the catch-up on in November (TBA) where we will reminisce, swop stories and accept trophies and framed certificates to commemorate our fantastic, fabulous, fun-filled weekend!
…BUT, to give you some perspective, here’s some background history of this amazing event!
Our first BNB was in in 2019 and saw us adventure through Quairading, Kelleberrin, Dowerin, Wongan Hills, Moora and Gingin finishing up in New Norcia.
In 2020 we ventured south, into the Great Southern and Wheatbelt regions of WA’s - Collie, Wagin, Dryandra, Narrogin, Brookton - to name just a few - exploring our beautiful state and discovering local best-kept secrets.
2021 led us through Bridgetown, Harvey, Manjimup, Pemberton Donnybrook and Balingup discovering new friends and reuniting with old ones.
In 2022 we took off from Merredin, then through Quairading, Jaurdi Station, Southern Cross, Moorine Rock, Hyden, and back to Quairading to finish the route. Great stops along the way, lots of fun and fellowship - in particular the Red Faces Night at Hyden! Who knew Bulldusters had so much talent - in particular Kit Leake and the 12 Bucket ladies! This year the BNB raised $117,000 for charitable institutions (well done Bulldusters!)
Just last year (2023) we traversed the southern wheatbelt through Mount Barker, Kojunup, Kendenup, Pemberton, Collie and Tambellup ending up at Fairbridge Village for our final lunch and awards.
Every year the routes are multi-tested to ensure the BNB remains exciting, fun and most of all, safe - consulting with local rangers and experienced drivers throughout the planning which usually starts a couple of weeks after the last one!
A registered nurse and a team of mechanics are present at all times, ready to provide support as required. But best of all, we scout unique areas and seek permission from local farmers to drive along their challenging dirt roads.
Exploring WA’s outback in crazy old vehicles, participants compete in games, enjoy sundowners, nature tours, parties, attractions and much, much, more! Our team of volunteers work tirelessly to plan four days jam-packed with fun - there is never a dull moment during the BulldustNBack!
Most importantly, BulldustNBack is a FUNdraiser, and proceeds go directly to local charities supporting young West Australians. The BNB team is made up entirely of volunteers, meaning no profits and no wages to be paid. Over the last five years we have raised over $427,,000 for good causes and over $50,000 went into the local communities we visited en route!
driving for change…
BulldustNBack is unique because the proceeds go to worthy beneficiaries. It is much more affordable than other motoring events because we are focused on raising money for charities - NOT to make a profit! All costs are paid by participants (registration and levy) and go directly into making this event incredible - none of it goes in anyone’s pockets.
